Aim: learn how to greet each other, alphabet, how to spell one’s name, say good-bye
Warm Up
Time: 10 mins
T greets Ss saying “Hello, students! Let’s start our lesson. First, let’s listen to a song and learn how people greet each other in English”.
First Ss listen to a song and T encourages them to sing along.
If needed T translates some words in the song. It is important to highlight the phrase “Hello!” and “How are you?” and responds to them (Just I’m fine or I’m ok is enough at this stage). However, no need to stop too long at this point.
Learning Names
Time: 5 mins
T introduces themselves and asks names of other Ss by saying: “My name is ________. What is your name?” Ss go one by one saying their names.
Alphabet
Time: 10 mins
T explains that all letters in English language have their names and Ss need to know those names. Alphabet helps to learn the names.
Ss listen to the alphabet song several times and try to sing along.
Lost letters
Time: 5 mins
Materials: ABC Worksheet
T gives a worksheet to Ss. Task is to listen to ABC song and say/write missing words.
Fishing for letters
Time: 5 mins
Materials: Worksheet
Ss match small and capital letter.
Spelling Names
Time: 10 mins
T writes their name on the board and asks Ss if they can write theirs. T invites one volunteer to the board to write their name. When it is written T spells the name, S repeat. Then everyone goes to the board one by one and writes and spells their names.
How are you
Time: 10 mins
T asks Ss how they are feeling at the end of the lesson introducing words tired and happy.
Goodbye
Time: 5 mins
T says that the lesson is over and it is time to say Goodbye. Ss listen to a song.
